Maya & LUNA: AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
Maya & Luna (bonded pair) - Available for Adoption
Name: Maya and Luna (bonded pair)
Gender: female
DOB: Maya 2011 and Luna 2013 (approx)
Breed: Maya is a pom X and Luna is a Maltese X
Rescue Story: Owner Return Surrender
Good with cats: Yes
Good with Dogs: Yes
Good with kids: yes with proper introductions
These little darlings are Mya (Pomeranian/Pekingese) and Luna (Havenese/Maltese).
Though they look like the kind of pooches who have been coddled, pampered, and carried around in handbags for years, this is not the case. From what we know, their current foster residence is at least their fifth home, having been neglected and ill-treated prior to coming into care originally, fostered in a loving home, then adopted and surrendered back when the adopter became ill. Due to all the shuffling and adjusting they have had to do, we are very, VERY committed to assuring that their next home will be their last.
For all of their issues, you would be hard-pressed to find two sweeter dogs. They have blended in perfectly into their foster home and get on well with the cats and dogs currently in residence. They love nothing more than a lengthy cuddle between naps and will follow you tirelessly around the house. They are a bonded pair and will often sleep snuggled up together. Neither dog sheds, but will require regular visits to the groomer.
Mya is clearly the older of the two and comes with a variety of challenges. She is nearly blind and deaf, though does respond to well-lit hand gestures. She has, due to nerves or whatever, ground her teeth down quite low, so will require a diet of soft food and treats. She has a good appetite and enjoys water from her fountain. She walks beautifully on leash, but only for a couple of blocks, then asks politely to be carried. She has the beginnings of arthritis in her spine, so only the gentlest of handling will do, which is frequent, as she needs help getting onto the couch or bed, and yes, they both love to sleep with their humans.
Mya's biggest challenge is that she requires pee-pads 24/7 though sometimes, because of her poor eyesight, she gets her front paws on the pad but the business end doesn't quite make it. A diaper for times when you're away for more than a couple of hours would be recommended.
Luna is a little dynamo. Despite her years, she has heaps of energy and, between naps on the back of the sofa, she'll gallop about the backyard, trying her hardest to keep up with her foster-brother. More social than Mya, Luna refuses to miss out and insists on joining in on the fun, though randomly barks at him if it appears he's having too much fun. Mostly housebroken, she will, from time to time, avail herself of the pee-pad, but has much better aim than Mya.
She is, what is lovingly referred to as, a Velcro-dog. Her foster family is never out of her sight and she is determined to be at their heels at all times. As a result, a baby gate at the kitchen door was installed to keep them safe while cooking is taking place.
Luna is very protective of her home; there isn't a chance that anyone will sneak onto your property, or that any random leaves will dare blow into the yard, without her letting out a fearful barrage of barks. If you are able to anticipate the trespass, putting a calm hand on her and softly saying, "Luna, good girl, be quiet." usually stops it before it starts. She is nervous of visitors though, and even nipped at a new person. A longer, careful, thorough introduction to any new people is definitely required. Once she warms up to a person, she's the most darling cuddle-bunny and will lay against your chest for hours while watching TV. Her favourite thing in the world is butt scratches and her face becomes quite comical during. She loves going on walks, though is inclined to pull in her excitement. She has improved since coming back into care, but still needs regular reminders to slow down.
Neither dog has been kid-tested, but smaller, boisterous children should definitely be discouraged,
Yes, there are a lot of things to consider here but, they are products of their previous circumstances and, let's face it, the point of adopting a senior pet, is in the joy in seeing the gratitude in their eyes as you take them blissfully through their final days. In our experiences, the satisfaction more than outweighs any inconvenience. These are sweet, cuddly dogs who want nothing more, and deserve nothing less, than a soft bed, endless petting, good food, kind words, and all the love you can spare.

Names: Goober (blonde pom chi x) & Bb (shih tzu x)
Sex: neutered male & spayed female Ages: Approximately 10 years each Energy level: medium-low Good with: everything and everyone Hi guys! We’re Bb and Goober! We’re a package deal so our bio is getting posted together. You can’t have one without the other. We’re a senior pair of sweeties who love to be snuggled, go for walkies, and play. We love cozy beds, wearing cute clothes, playing with our friends at Paws at Play, and all in all being spoiled dogs! Yup, we’re spoiled and we can’t stop/won’t stop living the good life! We both need regular grooming visits every 8 weeks, so if spa days aren’t in the budget, we aren’t for you! We like to get our nails done and our hair did! I mean, we have a look to maintain. Now, we’ll be upfront, we aren’t perfectly potty trained. In our previous home, we were loved but our bathroom routine was confusing for us. We are still getting used to having regular access to outside and we’re doing well with a routine in place. Just please know that we are trying our best, but we need to have an owner who is dedicated to helping us learn and understanding that it’s not our fault that we don’t know how just yet how to be 100% successful in the house training department. If you think you’d like to give us the wonderful home we both deserve and are committed yo giving two seniors the opportunity to shine in their golden years, apply today. vada-accepting applications
Name: Vada
Sex: Spayed Female
Age: 7 years
Energy level: medium
Good with dogs: Yes (socially but Vada does not want to share her home with other dogs)
Good with Cats: yes (Vada is fine with cats but does not want to live with other animals)
Good with kids: Yes (a home with kids who respect dogs would be great)
House trained: yes
Crate trained: yes
Hi! I’m Vada! I came into care with Paws in Need when I was surrendered by my family because I started to guard my mom from the other pets in the house and it made it very difficult to ensure all of us fur babies were safe. It was very hard for my family to say goodbye, but they stay in touch with me through my foster family at Paws at Play and I know they loved me to the moon and back.
My foster parents at Paws at Play say I look like the sweetest sugar glider you’ve ever seen. I do look pretty sweet, so I’ll take the compliment!
I love to cuddle my people, go for walks, play at dog daycare and explore while on adventures. I definitely want to go hike some trails with my new family, camp, and go for some really awesome walks. I bond very closely to my people and am known to bond really close with one person in my home. When I do get comfortable and settle into my home, I do tend to protect my special person from other animals and people. That’s why I’m seeking out a home where I can be the center of the universe… I mean only pet.
If you are searching for a perfect movie watching companion, an enthusiastic hiking partner, a great listener, and all in all a wonderful best friend, consider adopting me. I promise to be your whole world if you promise to let me be yours.

Socks - AVailable for Adoption
Name: Socks
Sex: Male (Neutered)
Breed: Husky Mix
Age: 7 months (approx in January 2023)
Energy level: Medium to High
Good with Kids?: Yes!
Good with Cats?: Potentially (Socks is interested in cats but most don't enjoy his attention)
Good with Dogs?: Yes!
Rescue Story: I came into care when the plans to buy a home with a yard didn't work out. They wanted me to have the best life and I really need a yard to play in, in addition to my walkies.
Hi! I'm Socks! I am a VERY sweet loving puppy who is looking for his furever home! I love and do very well meeting new people and animals. I love to play, run around, fetch and am currently enjoying playing with another dog in the house. I sit and give a paw, travel very well in cars, love being outside and have been great about doing my business outside. I am still a puppy so sometimes things will scare me and I can shy away. Also, I am still learning manners, like what to chew, not to chew, but I am very smart and can be trained. I am still clumsy like a puppy and have the cutest run when playing fetch. My current foster does not put me in a crate, so I will need a bit more for crate training. I like to be around people, but have not destroyed the house when the humans are away. I like company and will usually lay on the floor near you, sometimes will snuggle on the couch for a bit. If you are looking for a cute, sweet, loving, playful addition to your home; look no further!

Milo - AvAilable for Adoption - Adoption Trial in Progress - Not Accepting Applications
Name: Milo
Sex: Male Neutered
Breed: Collie Poodle x
D.O.B: 04/24/2022
Energy level: Average
Good with Kids?: Older kids & Teens yes
Goodwith Cats?: Milo does not have much expereince with cats but is not aggressive with any other animals so we think he would do well in a home with cats.
Good with Dogs?: Yes! I NEED A HOME WITH ANOTHER DOG
Rescue Story: Hello! My name is Milo! I came into care when my family realized that they could not meet my needs. I am a very shy and scared puppy who needed help with my anxiety. The folks at Paws brought me to Ambleside Veterinary Hospital where the doctor decided it was wise to start me on anxiety medication so I can learn and not be so scared all the time. It has helped me settle and now I am attending Paws at Play to learn about meeting people from my dog friends there. I learn so much from what my friends do, so much so that it is mandatory that I go to a home with another dog who can help show me the ropes. I love to play with my dog friends and when I learn to trust a person I am the biggest baby cuddle bug around. I am looking for a family with another dog, time to help me learn how to be a confident and comfortable boy, and a calm household where I can feel safe and loved. Do you think we could be a match? If so, apply today!
