Leia-FurEver In Care
Hello I am Leia, I came to Paws in Need in ruff shape. I was very underweight! I am now gaining a bit more weight but still very medically fragile. I am incontinent and need ongoing monitoring daily. Although the vets are still working on my diagnosis, I am trying to best to live each day to the fullest! I am a total sweetheart.
At this time the rescue has decided that due to my fragile nature & medical needs I will be furever in care. Please donate to my care today! E-transfer to [email protected] Thank you! <3 Leia |
Salter-Furver in care
Name: Salter
Gender: Female Age: 3 years in December 2020 Breed: Pyrenees X Size: XL (90 lbs) Energy level: Medium-High Rescue story: I was born into care after my mom was surrendered from a rural area. I was then adopted and my owners tried very hard to work with me & did lots of training but I was still a handful so I was given back to the rescue. Hi! My name is Salter - My mom, Sandy, had 12 puppies, but only 10 of us survived 3 years ago. I was adopted and then returned because my new owners felt like they could not handle me after much training and adapting. I am a super sweet girl who has done training and knows basic commands in my puppy years. I am a very cuddly girl who thinks 90lbs is a good lap dog weight! I love my tummy rubs! I do like people but new humans tend to take me more time to warm up with, I also prefer females rather than males. I also love my toys, sometimes too much and will become protective of them and will not back down. I am tall so please keep counter areas free of accessible foods. I was house trained before when living in the house and kennel trained but am so big I need an XL heavy duty crate (we can give you an example of this), I am only able to kennel sometimes and would prefer to be free. I used to be good on car rides, but can drool as the motion makes me sick; I have not been in a vehicle for a very long time and would need re-training on this as I won’t get in at all anymore. I am currently on medication (fluoxetine) for my anxiety issues. I do have some resource guarding issues and leash walking issues where I can become reactive. I have been living at the daycare since I was returned, where I have been roaming free inside & out (minimal kennelling has occurred when needed). I am a VERY stubborn girl, as typical for my breed (please read about my breed before applying). Also since being indoors I do tend to have potty training issues at times & sometimes just because I refuse to go outside. I can also be VERY protective of my property and should be in a home where strangers won’t easily enter the yard without proper intros. **Medication: I am on daily Fluoxetine for my resource guarding issues & anxiety, I also need a special diet of Low Fat Gastrointestinal food or Dental Food** At this time the rescue has decided that due to my behavioral/reactivity issues I will be furever in care.
